The new recruits to the Afghan National Police have been given wooden rifle during their training period. These trainees are very new without any military experience and wooden rifles have been used instead of real weapons. Officers were concerened that they could hurt themselves with real guns as few incidents happened before where few trainees hurt themselves while cleaning theguns.
Recruits to the Police include farmers, shopowners and even students who are trained by the International Security Assistance Force. These trainees will be given real guns after completing their training period.
